The illustrator: Walter Percival Starmer (1877-1961) was an English artist, cartoonist, muralist, and stained glass designer. Starmer is best known for his murals at the church of St Jude-on-the-Hill at Hampstead Garden Suburb in north London.
Starmer was born in 1877. He studied art at the Norwich and Birmingham schools of art. He practiced as an artist, cartoonist, muralist, and stained glass designer. During the First World War he recorded the work of the YMCA on the Western Front.
