The book : Attractive and rare edition of  this book Precursors of Science Fiction. The book is about a Persian archaeological expedition sets off across the Atlantic in 2951 to learn more about the now extinct "Mehrikans". They visit the ruins of New York and Washington, passing comment on the barbaric nature of Mehrikan culture and society, its philistinism, women's education and commerce. They eventually meet a real Mehrikan family living in the Capitol building.


The author: John Ames Mitchell (January 17, 1845 – June 29, 1918) was a publisher, architect, artist and novelist from the United States. He was regarded as a Renaissance man who kept to himself but influenced many.
