Content : Very good content (bright, inner binding weak but still tight, some foxing and staining - as shown). 
Illustrations : Complete with all the 6 stunning chromolithographic revolving illustrations Those 6 colorful kaleidoscopic dissolving view volvelles are made of moveable plates with ribbon ties. Each movable plate has interlocking die-cut disks that with the pull of a ribbon, reveal hidden illustrations. All movables in very good condition with their original ribbon. Very nice! Scarce in any condition!

The publisher : Ernest Nister (1841–1906) was a publisher and printer of movable books for children and paper ephemera such as greeting cards, post cards, and calendars. He was born in Darmstadt, Germany and later had an office in London. He refined the techniques used in the design of "magic windows," "dissolving picture," and pop-up books, publishing them from his firm based in Nuremberg, a toy-making center of the nineteenth century.
