The book: Scarce first edition of this early book introducing Norse mythology to a broad English-language readership. The work is based on the format of ”Die Nordische Mytologie” by Heiberg (German edition 1827) as is the idea of inserting a free translation of Adam Oehlenschläger’s ”Nordens Guder” from 1827. The introduction and the appendixes are drawn from Finn Magnussen och P. E. Müller.
The author: George Grenville Pigott (1796-1865) was a British diplomat, politician and member of parliament. In 1825 Pigott went as an attaché with Williams Wynn to Denmark and remained there until early 1830.
