Binding:  Attractive and near fine half morocco leather binding by Bayntun, Bath, (hinges fine) under a protective removable mylar cover. Upper edges gilt. A very beautiful binding for this book set!
Content: Near fine content (bright, tight and clean, rare light foxing or staining - as shown, light toning of pages - as shown). 
Illustrations: Complete with many hundred wonderfully detailed full-page plates, folding pages and in-text illustrations by George Cruikshank and other artists.

The books: Rare complete set in a very attractive binding by Bayntun, Bath, of -- Cruikshank's Comic Almanack, a well-illustrated collection of comic verses, playlets, and short stories "by Thackeray, Albert Smith, Gilbert à Beckett, [and] the brothers Mayhew.".

The illustrator: George Cruikshank (27 September 1792 – 1 February 1878) was a British caricaturist and book illustrator, praised as the "modern Hogarth" during his life. His book illustrations for his friend Charles Dickens, and many other authors, reached an international audience.
