Pages: 394 pages.
Binding: Attractive and very good contemporary full morocco leather binding (hinges fine, overall slightly worn and scuffed - as shown) under a protective removable mylar cover. All edges are marbled.
Content: Very good content (bright, tight and clean, rare light foxing - as shown, name of a previous owner on the second blank page and on top of the half-title page - as shown).

The book: Very attractive edition of The Course of Time -- a ten-book poem in blank verse, first published in 1827. It was the last published and most famous work of Scottish poet Robert Pollok. The first edition of the poem, an ambitious Miltonic epic of the doom of mankind,  sold 12,000 copies, and by its fourth edition, it had sold 78,000 copies and become well-known even in North America.
Pollok himself died in September 1827, only a few months after the poem was published.
An illustrated edition was published in 1857, featuring the work of John Tenniel, Myles Birket Foster, and J. R. Clayton.  

The author: Robert Pollok (19 October 1798 – 15 September 1827) was a Scottish poet best known for his work, The Course of Time, published in the year of his death.
