Binding: Good original Victorian gilt decorated full-cloth binding (hinges worn but still tight - as shown, overall worn and scuffed - as shown) under a protective removable mylar cover. A rare find in any condition!
Content: Good to very good content (bright, tight, and clean, some foxing and staining - as shown, one illustration reinforced by a previous owner at the back - as shown, 22 of the 23 blank tissue-guard present - as shown, last endpaper inner hinge worn but still tight -as shown). 
Illustrations: Complete with all the wonderful illustrations by George Cruikshank. Frontispiece, pictorial general title & 23 plates (as called for).

The author: George Cruikshank (27 September 1792 – 1 February 1878) was a British caricaturist and book illustrator, praised as the "modern Hogarth" during his life. His book illustrations for his friend Charles Dickens, and many other authors, reached an international audience.
