19th-Century Books
The nineteenth century was an extraordinary period for literature, illustration and the decorative arts of the book. This collection brings together MFLIBRA’s available books published between 1800 and 1899, ranging from Romantic and Victorian literature to fairy tales, illustrated books, first editions and finely bound volumes.
Among them are works by Lewis Carroll, Alfred Tennyson, Edgar Allan Poe and other notable writers, together with books distinguished by their illustrations, bindings or place in publishing history. The collection offers a broad view of nineteenth-century bookmaking while remaining focused on editions with genuine interest for collectors.
