At MFLIBRA Antique Books, we specialize in out-of-print, rare, and antiquarian books—each carefully chosen for its unique history and charm. We like to call them “Books with a Soul.”
Founded in the late 1990s by Martin Frenette, MFLIBRA grew from a deep, personal passion for antiquarian books, a passion first ignited by his discovery of Giacomo Falconi Bookseller in Montreal. This serendipitous encounter sparked a lifelong love affair with rare books that continues to this day. The name MFLIBRA is a reflection of this personal journey—MF for Martin’s initials, and “libra” from librairie, the French word for bookstore.
For over 30 years, we have traveled the world, buying, selling, and appraising rare books that resonate with collectors, libraries, and literary enthusiasts. While many individuals have contributed to MFLIBRA over the years, it is the passion for books that remains constant. Every book we handle is carefully selected, carrying not only its own story but the collective history of its readers.
MFLIBRA’s roots also extend to a thriving community of bibliophiles. Martin shared his passion through “L’Agora des Bibliophiles,” the first French bibliophiles' forum, which he led until the 2010s, fostering deep connections among book lovers.
We believe in the intrinsic value of each book we offer, curating a selection that spans diverse subjects and languages. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just beginning, we aim to connect you with books that speak to you, books with a soul of their own.
For decades, we’ve helped individuals and institutions build their collections, establishing trusted relationships along the way. MFLIBRA is a place where book lovers can find not only rare books but also a community of like-minded individuals who appreciate the history and beauty within each page.
Every book has a story. At MFLIBRA, we believe in helping you discover yours.
