The book: Very rare early 17th-century edition of the collected treatises on physiognomy, palmistry and astrology by Johann Rosenbach von Hagen (c. 1467-1537), with additional texts by Gulielmus Gratarolus (1516-1568) and Pomponius Gauricus (1482-1530). First printed in 1522, it was later placed on the Index of Forbidden books: "Presumably the combination of astrology, physiognomy, and chiromancy with humanistic bias and some approach to Protestant partisanship accounted for its long and widespread currency north of the Alps" (Thorndike).
The author: Johannes Indagine (ca.1467-1537), was a 16th-century German astronomer.
