The author : Trnka (1739-1791), was a doctor at the Military Hospital in Vienna and later professor of anatomy and pathology at the University of Tyrnau, was regarded in his day as the authority of the highest order. "He wrote about a series of illnesses, writings from the historical-pathol (Ogish) points of view, in which observations of all centuries are collected with erudition and diligence" (Hirsch).
