Binding:  Very good original full-cloth binding with a gilt design to front board and spine, nicely rebound, preserving the original boards and spine (hinges fine, overall slightly worn and scuffed - as shown) under a protective removable mylar cover and in a near fine custom illustrated slipcase (as shown).
Content:  Very good content (bright, tight and clean, some foxing and toning to some pages - as shown, nice Ex-libris bookplate of G. & N. Ingleton ( Geoffrey and Nan Ingleton) with a woodcut of their home 'The Grange' at Parramatta, NSW Australia on the first endpaper with an annotation from them on last endpaper - as shown).
Illustrations: Complete with all the beautiful illustrations by George Cruikshank and Kenny Meadows.

The illustrator: George Cruikshank (27 September 1792 – 1 February 1878) was a British caricaturist and book illustrator, praised as the "modern Hogarth" during his life. His book illustrations for his friend Charles Dickens, and many other authors, reached an international audience.
