The book: Attractive and very good first edition. "ROBIN HOOD and His Merry Men" is a classic children's book written by Henry Gilbert and first published in 1912. The book tells the legendary tale of Robin Hood, a skilled archer and outlaw who lived in Sherwood Forest with his band of Merry Men, robbing from the rich to give to the poor.
The book follows Robin Hood's adventures, including his battles against the Sheriff of Nottingham and his henchmen, his friendship with Little John and Friar Tuck, and his love for the beautiful Maid Marian. He is considered to be the most influential, and among the most prolific, children's book creators of his generation and, along with Randolph Caldecott and Kate Greenaway, one of the strongest contributors to the child's nursery motif that the genre of English children's illustrated literature would exhibit in its developmental stages in the later 19th century.
