The book: Rare and attractive first illustrated edition by Violet Moore Higgins of Heidi - a novel about the events in the life of a young girl in her paternal grandfather's care in the Swiss Alps. 
Heidi is one of the best-selling books ever written and is among the best-known works of Swiss literature. 

The author: Johanna Louise Spyri (née Heusser; German: 12 June 1827 – 7 July 1901) was a Swiss-born author of novels, notably children's stories, and is best known for her book Heidi. Born in Hirzel, a rural area in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland, as a child she spent several summers near Chur in Graubünden, the setting she later would use in her novels.

The illustrator: Violet Moore Higgins (28 November 1886 - 28 July 1963, USA) Violet Moore Higgins, born Violet Idelle Moore, attended the Art Institute of Chicago in the early 1900s, and then settled in New York as an illustrator for children's books and magazines. She has illustrated books like 'Pinocchio', 'Heidi', 'Hans Brinker' and 'The Three Bears'. In the 1910s she made 'Picture Puzzle Nursery Rhymes' for the Boston Globe. Her feature 'Drowsy Dick', about a boy who was injected into several fairy tales, was published in the New York World, owned by Joseph Pulitzer, and in 1926-1928 syndicated by New York World Press Publishing. In 1946-47 she illustrated Bible stories, fables and activity pages in the Treasure Chest comic book. In the 1950s, she drew a children's feature for the Associated Press called 'Junior Editors', which ran until her death in 1963.
