Content: Near fine content (bright, tight and clean, ex-libris of L. Beatrice Hutzler on the first endpaper - as shown, light toning to pages - as shown). 
Illustrations: Complete with the wonderful black&white pen, brush, and ink drawings by Rockwell Kent.

The author: Herman Melville (1819–1891) was an American novelist, short story writer, and poet of the American Renaissance period. His best known works include "Typee" (1846), a romantic account of his experiences in Polynesian life, and his masterpiece "Moby-Dick" (1851).

The illustrator: Rockwell Kent (1882–1971) was an American painter, printmaker, illustrator, and writer. Known for his distinctive style of black-and-white illustration, Kent's stark, yet beautiful images perfectly capture the epic and tragic story of Captain Ahab and his obsessive pursuit of the great white whale.
