Binding : Attractive, beautiful and fine modern full calf binding ruled in blind with spine title in gilt (hinges fine) under a removable protective mylar cover.
Content : Very good content (bright, tight and clean, some slight toning, rare foxing and staining, presentation note of a previous owner on first endpaper - as shown).

The book : Scarce, beautiful and attractive Gaelic 18th century edition of the New Testament.  A revision by John Stuart of the first Gaelic translation, made from the Greek by his father, James Stuart, 1767.

The author : James Stuart or James Stewart (1701–1789) was minister of Killin and worked with poet Dugald Buchanan on the Scottish Gaelic New Testament published in 1767. His son, Dr John Stuart (1743–1821) of Luss, continued to work on the Old Testament published in 1801. His daughter married James McLagan, minister at Amulree.
