The book: A splendid and richly bound example of the Bagster Polyglott Bible, a monumental attempt at cross-linguistic scriptural harmonization. This edition was designed for serious theological study, aligning the English text with numerous ancient versions—Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and major European languages.  The original silver-toned brass clasps and metal guards make it especially rare to find intact in this condition. A prized devotional and display piece.

The publisher: Samuel Bagster (1772–1851) was a pivotal figure in 19th-century English biblical publishing. His firm, Samuel Bagster and Sons, became renowned for high-quality editions of the Bible and other theological works in multiple languages. The Polyglott Bible stands as one of his most enduring legacies—bridging scholarly rigor with accessible beauty.
