This is a reworked version of van Sandwyk's earlier commission for the Folio Society, published originally in 2016 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the book. The volume here is in a smaller format with additional illustrations produced for this edition on pages 22, 63, 91, 110, and 132-3. Additionally, the title page and the decorated initials throughout are now colored, and there are new pictorial map endpapers and a new decoration on page 83.

Binding: Attractive and fine (as new) original dark red cloth lettered in gilt to spine, with triple-line gilt panel to front cover and a pictorial plate of the White Rabbit surrounded by a decorative panel comprising a crown, a key, hearts, roses, and thistles in black, red, and gilt (hinges fine) under a protective removable mylar cover in a fine original slipcase.
Content: Fine (as new) content (bright, tight, and clean, signed by Charles van Sandwyk on the half-title page - as shown).

The illustrator: Charles van Sandwyk is a Canadian artist and author known for his whimsical illustrations and intricate, hand-crafted books. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1966, he moved to Vancouver, Canada at a young age. Influenced by the classic illustrators of the early 20th century, van Sandwyk's works evoke a sense of nostalgia and enchantment, often featuring animals, fairies, and other fantastical subjects. Over the years, he has gained significant acclaim for his artistry, with his works being collected and admired internationally. Apart from his own titles, van Sandwyk has also illustrated editions for well-known authors, notably for the Folio Society. He splits his time between British Columbia and a remote Fijian island, where the tranquillity of his surroundings deeply influences his art.

The author: Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (27 January 1832 – 14 January 1898), better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, was an English author, poet, mathematician and photographer. His most notable works are Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass (1871). He was noted for his facility with wordplay, logic, and fantasy. His poems Jabberwocky (1871) and The Hunting of the Snark (1876) are classified in the genre of literary nonsense.
