The book: The Tailor of Gloucester remains one of Beatrix Potter’s most personal creations, originally written as a Christmas gift for a friend before being professionally issued by Frederick Warne. This early edition preserves the classic burgundy binding, the triangular onlaid illustration, and Potter’s beautifully composed color plates depicting the gentle tailor, his mischievous cat Simpkin, and the industrious little mice who labor through the night. A warm, atmospheric tale rooted in English folklore, it stands among Potter’s most admired works.
