 The author : Ciro di Pers (Pers, 17 April 1599 - San Daniele, 1663) was an Italian poet.He was born into a noble family, who owned the ancestral castle of Pers in Friuli. In his youth he conducted philosophical studies; a burning amorous disappointment, due to the fact that he failed to marry his cousin Taddea di Colloredo induced him to enter the Order of Malta.He took part in a military expedition against the Turks. Returning to Italy, he spent the rest of his life in San Daniele del Friuli, where he sometimes surrounded himself with friends of letters, until he was killed.
