The author: Carlo Gregorio Rosignoli or Rossignoli (Borgomanero, 1631 - Borgomanero, 1707) was an Italian Jesuit and preacher. He was the author of numerous theological and ascetic-devotional works. He is remembered for his moralizing works and in particular aimed at correcting "bad morals"; exemplary are his works La Lingua Purgata where he identifies bad customs in obscene, blasphemous, or irreverent speech, as well as in La Pittura in Giudicio in which “lascivious images” are condemned.
