The author: Giovanni Pietro Pinamonti (Pistoia, 27 December 1632 - Orta, 25 June 1703) was an Italian Jesuit. Giovanni Pietro Pinamonti was born in 1632 in Pistoia, Tuscany, the son of Caterina Campanelli and Giovanni Pinamonti del Terchio. In 1647, in Rome he wore the habit of the Society of Jesus, completing his studies in Rhetoric and Philosophy, completing the scholastic course of Theology. From 1664, together with Paolo Segneri, he began his activity in the missions, dedicating himself particularly to confessions.
