The Book: Beautifully illustrated mid-18th-century edition in a wonderful contemporary binding of The History of NAPOLEON.

The Author: Paul-Mathieu Laurent, known as Laurent de l'Ardèche, born September 14, 1793, in Bourg-Saint-Andéol, died August 7, 1877, in Versailles, was a French lawyer, historian, journalist, politician, and librarian. On May 31, 1840, the government appointed him judge at the Privas court of the first instance. The same year, he published a History of Napoleon several times republished which undoubtedly, according to Pierre Broué, played an important role in the construction of the Napoleonic legend.
