The author: Caroline Snowden (Whitmarsh) Guild (1827-1898). Caroline Snowden Whitemarsh was born June 1st, 1827 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, USA. Her mother was Agnes L. Snowden and her father was Thomas Whitemarsh. She had no siblings. Caroline Snowden Whitemarsh married James Guild later in life and they had no children. Guild's works of literature were often suppressed and shielded from the public because of the stigma during that time about women authors. Only some of her works are available to this day. One of her fairy stories is titled Violet: A Fairy Story... it is about how life would be like if humans lived alongside fairies.
