Binding: Attractive and very good original full-cloth binding in blue with elaborate gilt decoration (hinges fine, overall slightly scuffed and worn - as shown) under a protective removable mylar cover. All edges are gilt.

Illustrations: Profusely and nicely illustrated with twenty-six wood engravings by Dalziel, Green, Thomas, and E. Williams, from drawings by Daniel Maclise, R.A.

The poem tells the story of a heroic princess who founded a women's university, and the prince who loves her. This edition features detailed wood engravings that complement Tennyson's poetic narrative.

The author: Alfred Tennyson, 1st Baron Tennyson (6 August 1809 – 6 October 1892) was an English poet and the Poet Laureate during much of Queen Victoria's reign. He remains one of the most popular British poets.

The illustrator: Daniel Maclise (25 January 1806 – 25 April 1870) was an Irish painter, illustrator, and history painter, and member of the Royal Academy of Arts. His detailed illustrations in this volume are characteristic of his precise and elaborate style.
