Binding: Attractive and very good Victorian full morocco leather binding with an attractive decorative gilt and blind tooling paneling (hinges fine, overall slightly scuffed and worn - as shown, spine slightly sunned - as shown) under a protective removable mylar cover. All edges gilt.
Content: Very good content (bright, tight, and clean, some light foxing - as shown, school prize handwritten inscription on the second blank dated April 1876 - as shown). 
Illustrations: Complete with the frontispiece illustration, the illustrated title page and the four full-page illustrations for a total of six engravings on steel.

The author: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (February 27, 1807 – March 24, 1882) was an American poet and educator whose works include "Paul Revere's Ride", The Song of Hiawatha, and Evangeline. He was also the first American to translate Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, and was one of the five Fireside Poets from New England.
