The book: One of the most celebrated collections in Victorian poetry, Goblin Market and Other Poems first appeared in 1862 and established Christina Rossetti as one of the foremost poetic voices of her generation. The volume contains the famous title poem Goblin Market, a richly imaginative narrative blending fairy tale, temptation, sacrifice, and sisterly devotion, together with The Prince’s Progress and a substantial gathering of lyrical, devotional, and reflective poems, including the enduring sonnet Remember. Rossetti’s poetry is admired for its musical language, emotional depth, and symbolic richness, qualities that continue to attract readers and scholars alike.

The author: Christina Georgina Rossetti (1830–1894) was one of the most important English poets of the Victorian era. Associated with the Pre-Raphaelite circle through her family, she produced a body of work distinguished by its lyrical beauty, spiritual intensity, and subtle exploration of love, faith, memory, and loss. Her poems remain among the most frequently anthologized works of nineteenth-century English literature.

The illustrator: Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828–1882), Christina’s brother, was a founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and one of the most influential artists and poets of the nineteenth century. His distinctive illustrations, characterized by medieval inspiration, rich symbolism, and expressive figures, provide a fitting visual counterpart to Christina Rossetti’s imaginative verse.
