Binding: Very good original publisher’s green pictorial cloth binding, with gilt balloon design and title to the front cover, gilt decoration and lettering to the spine, and black ruled borders to both covers. Corners slightly worn, with light wear to spine ends and extremities, minor rubbing and a few small marks to the cloth, as shown. Hinges fine, binding sound and attractive. Protected in a removable mylar cover. 
Content: Very good condition. Light age toning and occasional minor foxing or handling marks, mainly to preliminary and outer pages. Early gift inscription dated June 8th, 1889, on preliminary page. A clean, solid, and well-preserved copy overall.
Illustrations: Illustrated with a frontispiece, Night Scene from the “Nassau” Balloon, and numerous black and white illustrations throughout, including historical balloon ascents, aeronautical scenes, and early flight experiments.
