Binding: Attractive and very good full navy morocco leather binding with intricate gilt decorations on the spine and covers. The spine is adorned with gilt floral motifs and raised bands. The cover design features ornate gilt cornerpieces and borders (hinges fine, overall slightly worn and scuffed - as shown) under a protective removable mylar cover. All edges are gilt.
Content: Very good content (bright, tight, and clean, some light foxing - mainly on the preliminary and last pages - as shown, light staining to the lower edge of the last pages probably due to the leather dye - as shown).
Illustrations: Complete with over 180 illustrations by Sir John Gilbert, R.A., and engraved by the Brothers Dalziel.
