The notice-board that appears in the image on p. 14 reads “Peter Rabbit & Mother – Florists – Gardens neatly razed. Borders devastated by the night or year”; this was replaced from the third impression onwards to avoid difficulty for foreign translators.

Binding : Very good original boards binding with white titles, picture onlay on front board, dot in the centre of 'of' on front board (hinges fine, overall slightly worn and scuffed - as shown). An exceptional copy!

The author : Helen Beatrix Potter (28 July 1866 – 22 December 1943) was an English writer, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist best known for her children's books featuring animals, such as those in The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
