The author: Mabel Henrietta Spielmann - Mabel Henrietta Samuel was born in Liverpool, in 1862, the daughter of Edwin Samuel, and his wife, Clara Yates. She was educated in Brussels, and married Marion Harry Spielmann in 1880, having one son. She died in 1938. In addition to her children's books, Spielmann wrote about the life and work of Charlotte Brontë, and about the history of art.

The illustrator: William John Charles Pitcher (21 March 1858 – 2 March 1925), known as Wilhelm or C. Wilhelm, was an English artist, costume and scenery designer, best known for his designs for ballets, pantomimes, comic operas and Edwardian musical comedies.
