Binding: Attractive and very good original beautifully decorated blue cloth binding with gilt and color-stamped illustration of a knight slaying a dragon. The spine also features elaborate gilt titling and heraldic symbols (hinges fine, overall slightly worn and scuffed - as shown, corner lightly bumped - as shown) under a protective removable mylar cover. Upper edge gilt.
Content: Very good content (bright, tight and clean, rare light foxing or staining - as shown, a prize bookplate is affixed to the front endpaper, dated 1917 - as shown, tear nicely repaired by a previous owner on the lower part of page 373 - as shown).
Illustrations: Illustrated by Norman Ault, featuring a beautiful full-page color frontispiece and title page and 20 black-and-white full-page illustrations, capturing the medieval spirit of the legendary tales.
