The book: Signed First Edition of this charming and whimsically illustrated tale of Peterkin, a mischievous young faun, whose forest escapades are told with delightful humor and visual enchantment. Created by Elaine Pogány with illustrations by her husband Willy Pogány—one of the most celebrated book illustrators of the early 20th century—Peterkin brings together text and image in a lively and fantastical fable aimed at children and the young at heart. This copy is particularly desirable for being signed by both author and artist.

The author: Elaine Pogány was a writer and creative partner to her husband, Willy Pogány. She contributed to several children's books during the 1930s and 1940s, often working in tandem with her husband. While less known in literary circles, her imaginative storytelling complements Pogány’s distinctive visual style.

The illustrator: Willy Pogány (1882–1955) was a Hungarian-American illustrator celebrated for his work in mythological, fairy tale, and children’s books. With a background in art nouveau and classic linework, Pogány illustrated numerous masterpieces including The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Tannhäuser, and The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám. His illustrations for Peterkin highlight his gift for blending character and charm into a fully immersive visual world.
